By coincidence, the book starts with a pandemic, which led one reviewer to say, “… the extraordinary thing for me is how closely Perrin anticipated the effects of a pandemic on the population ... social distancing, lockdowns, masks, and all the other precautions people were forced to take in 2020 – 2021.”
But as several other reviewers noted, “We all better hope the author wasn't prescient [about what comes next]".
